GEORGE TOWN, – The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) aims to distribute aid amounting to RM15 billion to entrepreneurs throughout the country this year.
Its minister, Steven Sim Chee Keong said, so far, as much as RM9 billion has been channeled to about 250,000 entrepreneurs.
Of that amount, RM3.4 billion was new financing that benefited 34,000 entrepreneurs, including those who gained access to financing for the first time.
He said the additional RM1 billion in microcredit funds provided by the government recently also opened up opportunities for more entrepreneurs to obtain financing.
“This year, the government has provided approximately RM5 billion in terms of microcredit loans, adding RM1 billion to make it RM6 billion. This RM1 billion will be divided among several agencies.
