BAU, – Entrepreneur financing and development agencies are asked to be more active in the field to identify small traders and rural entrepreneurs who need help.
The Minister of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development, Steven Sim said, agencies such as TEKUN Nasional, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), SME Bank, Bank Rakyat and SME Corp need to implement the approach ‘outreach‘ or roadshow to approach the concerned group.
“Entrepreneurs (in need) should be sought and not just wait for them to come forward to seek help.
“(That’s why), a grassroots approach through the program ‘outreach‘ and ‘road show‘ needs to be intensified to identify small traders and village entrepreneurs who need help. Next, channel appropriate support to them,” he said.
Sim said that such an approach is important to ensure that entrepreneurs not only get access to financing, but also capacity and market development assistance.
