KUALA LUMPUR, – Financing facilities amounting to RM57 billion to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through Budget 2027, which is the highest amount so far, is seen as an effort to help the sector face global economic uncertainty.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said the increase is one of the government’s measures to strengthen the PMKS sector which is an important driver of the country’s economy.
“Budget 2027 is Malaysia’s PMKS budget. The funding allocation increased from RM50 billion to RM57 billion, which is the highest in history.
“The three things I am asking for are more funds and resources for PMKS, lower business costs and higher efficiency, especially in the delivery of government services,” he said when speaking at the Enterprise 50 (E50) 2026 Gala Ceremony in the nation’s capital.
In addition, Budget 2027 also provides a tax cut of up to two percentage points for companies in Malaysia, in addition to measures to reduce the burden of business costs.
The government also takes into account the feedback of PMKS operators in an effort to ensure that the sector is given room to continue to grow despite the geopolitical, geoeconomic and energy crisis uncertainties.
