SERDANG, – The announcement by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding an additional RM1 billion microcredit fund to the micro, small and medium enterprise sector (PMKS) is considered to be good news that is very welcome, especially among micro and small entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs and Cooperatives Development Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong said the addition made the total microcredit fund for this year increase from RM5 billion to RM6 billion.
He said the additional allocation would be channeled through three agencies under his ministry, namely Bank Rakyat, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia and TEKUN Nasional.
He said that microcredit facilities are very important to micro and small entrepreneurs because the agencies involved usually offer friendlier financing conditions, in addition to a simpler application process.
“This is certainly news that is very welcome by the PMKS sector, especially small businesses and micro businesses.
